Position Summary
A privately owned estate seeks an experienced Project Manager to oversee the maintenance,
repair, renovation, construction, and long term oversight of infrastructure on Cape Cod. This role
is responsible for coordinating construction projects and ongoing maintenance of houses, barns,
utility systems, and renewable energy infrastructure, while ensuring safety, reliability, regulatory
compliance, and cost-effective operations for a working farm and residential community.
Projects also occasionally include maintenance of docks, wharves and transfer bridges.
The ideal candidate combines strong construction and facilities management experience with
practical knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and utility systems, effective project management
in a team based setting, and comfort working in a remote rural setting.
Key Responsibilities
Facilities & Structural Maintenance
Manage inspection, repair, and preventive maintenance programs for:
Residential and seasonally rented homes
Horse stables, machine sheds, and other support facilities
Rural unpaved roads and causeways
Small bridges
Various waterfront assets including wharves and transfer bridges
Coordinate contractors, tradespeople, engineers, and vendors
Develop scopes of work, project schedules, budgets, and maintenance plans
Coordinate inspections related to structural integrity, corrosion, and weather damage
Develop coordinated schedules for building carpentry, plumbing & electric improvements
Prioritize emergency repairs and operational needs (with farm superintendent)
Utility Systems Management
Oversee, monitor and maintain a fully islanded Electricity Grid infrastructure, working
together with third party vendors and consulting engineers, including:
Solar-powered electrical generation
Battery energy storage systems (BESS)
Backup diesel generators
Low-voltage three-phase electrical distribution grid
Oversee, monitor and maintain drinking water distribution infrastructure, septic systems
and leach fields
Coordinate troubleshooting, repairs, upgrades, and preventive maintenance
Track utility performance (fuel consumption, battery health, metered electricity use, well
flow rates, and repair requests, etc.)
Project Planning & Administration
Prepare budgets, cost estimates, schedules, and procurement plans
Maintain project documentation, maintenance records, and compliance reports
Manage multiple concurrent projects and maintenance priorities
Conduct regular site inspections and progress meetings
Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget
Safety & Compliance
Enforce workplace safety standards and contractor compliance
Ensure compliance with building codes, environmental regulations, and OSHA
requirements
Administer reporting and regulatory compliance with local, state & federal agencies
Develop emergency response and contingency plans for critical infrastructure systems
Required Qualifications
5+ years of project management experience in facilities, construction, utilities, or
industrial maintenance
Working knowledge of:
Building systems and construction methods
Electrical and mechanical systems
Solar and backup power systems
Water and wastewater systems
Experience managing contractors and maintenance personnel
Excellent communication skills
Strong team player
Strong budgeting, scheduling, and organizational skills
Ability to read construction drawings, technical manuals, and engineering reports
Proficiency with project management tools and maintenance tracking
Requirements
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with off-grid or hybrid renewable energy systems
PMP certification or equivalent project management credential
Comfort with systems thinking and creative problem solving
Knowledge of environmental permitting and coastal zone regulations
Facility with project management software and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) or
similar tools for asset management and mapping of project level data
