Description
The Driver supports the mission of NourishPHX by collecting donated food, clothing, and other items from donors across the Valley and delivering them to NourishPHX locations or assigned distribution sites. The ideal candidate is reliable, safety-focused, organized, and comfortable representing NourishPHX with professionalism and gratitude when interacting with donors, volunteers, and community partners.
Pay Range: $18–$22 per hour
Schedule: Generally, 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Occasional weekend events.
Requirements
What You’ll Do
Donation Pickup, Delivery & Transportation
Pick up donated food, clothing, and miscellaneous items from grocery stores, partner organizations, and community donors throughout the Phoenix area.
Safely load, transport, and deliver donations to NourishPHX locations or assigned distribution sites.
Follow daily routes and ensure timely pickups and deliveries.
Donation Handling & Warehouse Support
Weigh, record, sort, and stage donations in the warehouse and sorting room.
Restock the sorting room with clothing from:
a) donations collected during the day’s pickups
b) clothing staged in the warehouse
c) seasonal clothing from upstairs storage.
Stage empty pallets in the sorting room for off-season clothing. Once full, move the pallet upstairs and stage it in off-season storage.
Stage empty Gaylor bins in the sorting room for the Tiedemann Globe recycling program.
Store food and other products appropriately in designated areas and follow all safe food handling procedures.
Vehicle Operation & Safety
Safely operate NourishPHX vehicles, including refrigerated vans & box truck
Conduct basic vehicle inspections and maintain vehicle cleanliness.
Maintain mileage logs and report maintenance issues promptly.
Administrative Duties
Complete required logs, route sheets, and vehicle inspection forms.
Utilize smartphone communication for scheduling and coordination.
Team Support
Assist volunteers with unloading and processing donations.
Support warehouse and operational tasks when deliveries are not scheduled.
Represent NourishPHX with professionalism and gratitude when interacting with donors, volunteers, and partners.
What We’re Looking For:
Valid Arizona driver’s license with a clean driving record
Arizona Food Handler’s Card (or ability to obtain)
2–3 years delivery driving experience preferred
Ability to operate a midsize, refrigerated van & box truck
Ability to work independently and manage delivery schedules
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and carry 50–60 pounds regularly
Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting
Ability to load and unload donations safely
