Description
Occupational Therapist – Community NDIS Role
Flexible Part-Time or Contractor Position | Opportunity to Grow into Full-Time
Pax Healthcare is looking for an experienced Occupational Therapist to join our growing mobile allied health team.
This role would suit an OT who enjoys working autonomously, managing their own caseload and delivering high-quality, client-centred services within the NDIS space, while still having access to responsive clinical, administrative and mentoring support when needed.
We are a clinician-led practice, founded and operated by a full-time treating physiotherapist. We understand the realities of mobile community work, including travel, documentation, stakeholder communication, cancellations, complex reports and the importance of sustainable workloads.
This position is initially offered as a flexible part-time or contractor role, with the possibility of progressing into a full-time position as the caseload grows.

We are intentionally growing our occupational therapy service and are looking for the right clinician to grow with us. We value clinical quality, professional integrity, clear communication and long-term relationships with participants, families, support coordinators and other treating professionals.

About the Role
This is a community-based mobile role supporting NDIS participants across Melbourne. Most current referrals are located in Melbourne’s northern suburbs, with some clients also based in the west. Travel areas can be discussed and, where possible, tailored to suit the right candidate.
We currently have OT referrals available and are looking for the right clinician to gradually build a consistent caseload with us. You will not be expected to step into a full caseload immediately. We will support a smooth transition over the first few weeks and tailor the workload around your availability, preferred employment structure and travel area where possible.
Your caseload may include:
Functional Capacity Assessments
Assistive Technology assessments and recommendations
Minor and complex home modifications
Manual handling assessments
Supported Independent Living and SDA-related assessments
Equipment prescription
Home-based therapy and functional assessments
NDIS report writing
Liaison with participants, families, support coordinators, support workers and other treating professionals
This role offers a varied and meaningful caseload, with the flexibility to shape your work gradually as the service continues to grow.
About You
We are looking for an Occupational Therapist who is confident, organised and able to work independently in the community.
You will be someone who can manage your own diary, prioritise your workload and communicate professionally with participants, families and stakeholders. You do not need to be micromanaged, but you value having support available when you need it.
The successful applicant will ideally have:
Minimum two years’ experience as an Occupational Therapist
Current AHPRA registration
Experience working with NDIS participants
Strong clinical reasoning and report writing skills
Confidence completing community-based assessments
Ability to manage your own schedule and workload
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Current driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle
NDIS Worker Screening Check, or willingness to obtain
Working with Children Check, or willingness to obtain
Professional Indemnity Insurance if working as a contractor
Experience in Functional Capacity Assessments, Assistive Technology, home modifications, manual handling or SIL/SDA-related work will be highly regarded.
