  • Permanent Full Time opportunity available (9 day fortnight)

  • LGO 5 ($82,628 - $86,238 per annum + superannuation) based on skills, qualifications and experience

About the role

This position will develop and implement resource recovery & education projects and programs across the community, schools, business, industry and government sectors of Townsville to effect positive behaviour change in the push towards zero waste to landfill.

This position seeks to engage the community in waste reduction and recycling practices across the Townsville local government area to support corporate plan inclusive of Goal 2 - A circular economy that advances business and moves towards zero waste



Requirements

About you

To be successful in this role you will require relevant tertiary qualifications and/or equivalent experience of at least 3 - 5 years in project management, behaviour change and community engagement. You will also have a sound working knowledge and understanding of issues related to waste and recycling education including for example waste minimisation, resource recovery and methods to reduce recycling contamination. You will need a "C" class open driver's licence and the ability gain a 'Blue Card' to work with children, as regulated by the Commission for Children and Young People and Child Guardian Act 2000.

You will have experience in developing and implementing waste and recycling education, including undertaking school visits, community events, facility tours and development of waste education projects and experience working with procurement policies and procedures as well as ability to manage a budget and evaluate quotations. You will also have the ability to prepare written reports to a high quality, including project evaluations, briefing notes, tender recommendation reports, education marketing materials and proficiency in the use of the Microsoft Office suite of products.

You will have highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, with experience in building effective partnerships with colleagues, schools, community groups and government organisations.

In this role you will need the ability to work periodically on weekends as well as conduct early starts and late finishes across the Townsville local government area.
