About the Role:
Curtin University invites applications for a visionary academic leader to join us as Research Infrastructure Lead. This strategic role will drive the development of cutting-edge research infrastructure for the Climate Action in Transport and Land Use Planning (CATLUP-I) program, delivered through the AURIN WA Node at the Planning and Transport Research Centre (PATREC).
This is a unique opportunity to lead a transformative project that supports Western Australia’s climate action agenda through data-driven innovation in transport and urban planning.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Drive the strategic planning, coordination, and delivery of the AURIN WA Node project.
- Lead stakeholder engagement with government agencies (including the Department of Transport and Major Infrastructure, Main Roads Western Australia and Western Australian Planning Commission), academic partners, and platform providers.
- Oversee the design and implementation of scalable, interoperable infrastructure aligned with AURIN systems.
- Guide the development of analytical tools and data integration strategies to support climate-related decision-making.
- Champion sustainability planning, capacity building, and long-term impact across research and policy communities.
Requirements
Who we’re looking for – Selection Criteria:
We’re seeking a senior academic who meets the following Essential Criteria:
- A PhD in urban planning, data science, geography, transport, environmental science, or a related field.
- Proven leadership in complex research infrastructure or data platform projects.
- Expertise in data science, spatial analysis, and infrastructure for climate or urban research.
- A strong track record of stakeholder engagement and interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Familiarity with AURIN, government data systems, and planning support tools (highly desirable)
Role Requirements:
- As this is a fixed-term contract, you will require current work rights in Australia that match the tenure of this role to be considered.
