Advance AI-Driven Innovations in Cancer Care
Are you a seasoned researcher ready to take on a role in a dynamic, multi-disciplinary oncology research environment? We’re hiring a Research Associate 2 to execute high-impact studies within the Paul Albrechtsen Research Institute at CancerCare Manitoba (CCMB). Reporting to Drs. Marshall Pitz and Kathleen Decker, you’ll conduct research, supervise personnel, and help shape the future direction of studies in AI-driven data science in oncology.
About the Informatics Platform and the Health Services Research Lab
The Informatics Platform links clinical, health system, and patient-reported data into one organized dataset that can be efficiently and effectively used to support cancer research and scientific knowledge, enhance patient care, improve health system efficiency, and support business intelligence. The Health Services Research Lab is a multidisciplinary team of researchers along with a diverse group of partners dedicated to measuring, implementing, and supporting the best ways to deliver high quality, equitable cancer care for Manitobans. Together, they are leading the way in data-driven decision making across the cancer control spectrum.
Your Role
As a Research Associate 2, you will:
- Work with a diverse team to implement AI-focused cancer research using large, population-based data sets.
- Lead recruitment, training, and supervision of research personnel.
- Oversee and standardize novel research activities.
- Lead ethics applications, regulatory documentation, and knowledge translation.
- Support grant development, budget planning, and standard operating procedure writing
- Liaise with external agencies, suppliers, and collaborators.
- Mentor students and junior staff.

Requirements
What You Bring
- PhD or MD in a relevant discipline (or MSc with 7+ years of independent research experience)
- Extensive experience with AI-driven research, data science, and observational studies
- Strong publication record and experience writing research grants
- Advanced skills in database management and research project design
- Familiarity with ethics protocols, WHMIS, and regulatory standards
- Proven leadership, mentorship, and project management capabilities
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced research setting
- Must be able to legally work in Canada
- French language skills considered an asset
