Description
The City of O'Fallon, MO seeks a full-time Project Manager in our Public Works Department. The ideal candidate for this position brings structure to complex efforts and keeps teams aligned and focused. Further your career in the management of construction projects and lead cross-functional initiatives from planning through execution. The salary range for this position is $73,819.20 to $110,718.40 with midpoint control. Your first year you can expect to make a starting salary of $73,819.20 to $92,268.80 depending on your experience and qualifications.
As a Project Manger, some of your duties will include:
- Manages engineering, surveying, and professional firms for design projects; establishes, negotiates, and executes contracts.
- Manages contracting companies for construction projects.
- Reviews plans, specifications, and estimates for construction projects.
- Assists in the preparation of the budget for the upcoming year.
- Manage the allocated budget to ensure all project-related costs fall within a determined budget for the project.
- Manage the timeline of projects to ensure on-time completion.
- Ensure project documentation is maintained and archived.
- Preparation of Council Agenda items and purchase order requests.
- Prepares bid documents, advertisements, and addenda in coordination with Purchasing Agent.
- Applies for external funds for design and construction projects; prepares fund agreements; attends meetings pertaining to fund sources.
- Reviews shop drawings, submittals, certified payrolls, and test reports.
- Acquires easements and rights-of-way for construction projects; records required documents.
- Prepares and issues Requests for Qualifications to engineering firms for design services.
- Pays invoices for contracting engineering firms; prepares spreadsheets and invoices.
- Meets with residents concerning projects during design and construction.
- Completes in-house design plans.
- Sends plans to utility companies for review and coordinates relocations.
- Prepares and makes presentations to elected officials and public groups.
- Performs related duties.
Requirements
What We're Looking For:
- Strong knowledge of public works operations, civil engineering, and construction management.
- Proven experience with transportation infrastructure, utilities, and facilities projects.
- Familiarity with applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
- Ability to manage complex projects, prepare technical documents, and communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Proficiency in computer applications and project management tools.
- Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Engineering preferred
- Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the work of subordinate positions to be able to answer questions and resolve problems, usually associated with one to three years of related experience or service.
- Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of Missouri for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
