Studio Outside is now accepting resumes and portfolios from landscape architects and designers to fill a position requiring 3 to 5 years of experience for immediate work in Dallas, Texas. The studio offers the opportunity to work on award winning projects - prioritizing design excellence, people, and relationships with an emphasis on work/life balance including half-day Fridays.
The successful individual will work collaboratively with the studio, from principals to landscape designers, on a wide variety of projects. Those motivated by a desire to learn and work as part of a team will find opportunities for professional growth within the office.
The studio team has more than 40 years of experience throughout the United States and overseas. Position Summary
Project Leaders are expected to provide project design/documentation for multiple, simultaneous projects, while acquiring the skillset to lead projects. They have greater responsibility within the activities or projects of the company and are expected to perform those consistently and with high skill. A Project Leader contributes by focusing on the projects assigned to them, while being guided by others who direct the overall vision and content of what is being produced.

DESIGN - A Project Leader is expected to perform the following duties while being guided by others who direct the overall vision and content of what is being produced. It is expected for a Project Leader to contribute by focusing on the projects assigned to them.
- Prepares project design drawings – digitally rendered graphics, hand sketches, CAD-based plans, and details.
- Assembles project design presentations containing imagery, design drawings, narrative, renderings, etc.
- Prepares project diagrams by conducting site analysis with input from attending site visits and researching project context.
- Researches and applies applicable codes, regulations, and design standards, with guidance from the project Landscape Architect.
- Prepares project cost estimates for hardscape materials, amenities, and planting designs.
PROJECT MANAGEMENT - A Project Leader is expected to perform the following duties while being guided by others:
- Reviews and edits work for accuracy on assigned tasks by making changes based on creating ‘redlines’ and ‘redlines’ from others.
- Participates, as requested, in project meetings with clients, design team, and/or contractors by listening, taking notes, and communicating when appropriate.
- Observes the overall flow of a project and is learning what tasks are needed to successfully complete all phases of a project.
- Self-manage and deliver tasks on time within multiple projects, simultaneously.
- General Information
Work Schedule: Mon to Thurs 8am-6pm, Fri 8am-12pm
Remote / WFH: up to 10 hours per week after 6 months+ at Studio Outside (if desired)
Job Type / FSLA Status: Full Time / Exempt
Travel Required: 0% - 10%
Reports to: Principals within assigned Studio Team

Requirements
Skills/Experience
- Effective communication skills in English (written, verbal, graphic)
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively communicate with individuals upwards and downwards within the company structure
- Ability to positively guide others and problem solve on a project
- Actively cultivates area expertise within landscape architecture and has a professional growth plan
- Self-awareness of strengths and weaknesses and when to seek guidance and delegate
- Develops positive relationships with others at Studio Outside
- Available as a resource to others by answering questions and helping to solve project-related and office-related issues
Qualifications
- Prior Experience Required: 2 years, typically
- Legally able to work in the United States
- Proficient with Microsoft 365: including Word, Excel
- Proficient with Adobe Creative Cloud: including InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat
- Proficient with AutoCAD
- Proficient with SketchUp and Lumion (preferred)
- Agrees to follow company policies (as written in Studio Outside and Trinet handbooks)
Education
Bachelor’s or master’s degree from an accredited university - Landscape Architecture or Architecture required
