Requirements
LMU Munich seeks to appoint a clinically skilled, highly qualified junior academic to this professorship and, therefore, especially encourages early-career scholars to apply. Prerequisites for this position are a university degree in veterinary medicine and a doctoral degree or a comparable specific qualification. With an excellent record in research and teaching to date, prospective candidates will have to demonstrate their potential for an outstanding academic career. Excellent team and communication skills as well as the willingness to play a leading role in the future development of the anaesthesia and analgesia service are expected. Experience in raising third party resources is desirable. International board certification of the European College of Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia (ECVAA) and/or of the American College of Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia (ACVAA) is required; if international board certification is not available yet, ECVAA or ACVAA residency-trained candidates that are board-eligible and have a national specialty title are also eligible for the position. Scholarly activity and participation in collaborative research corresponding to a clinical tenure track faculty position will be expected. According to domestic legal guidelines (TAppV), the successful applicant will be responsible for teaching veterinary students in anaesthesia and analgesia.
The initial appointment will be for six years. After a minimum of three years, it can be converted into a permanent position pending a positive evaluation of the candidate’s performance in research and teaching as well as his or her personal aptitude and if all legal conditions are met.
As communication with students, staff, patient owners, industry and stakeholders will require knowledge of spoken and written German, it is required for the successful candidate to demonstrate the sincere willingness to become proficient in German.
LMU Munich makes a point of providing newly appointed professors with various types of support, such as welcoming services and assistance for dual career couples.
LMU Munich is an equal opportunity employer.
