We're now seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Portfolio Finance Lead to join our IT function in Sheffield and take ownership of the financial governance supporting a diverse and high-impact change portfolio.

About the Role

As the Portfolio Finance Lead , you will be responsible for managing the financial processes across the IT portfolio, ensuring accurate cost recovery, budget control, and financial transparency. You will work closely with senior stakeholders, project leads, and finance teams to ensure the portfolio is financially sound and aligned with HSBC's broader strategic and budgetary goals.

Key Responsibilities:

• • Manage end-to-end financial governance for the IT portfolio, ensuring all costs are recovered and recharged appropriately to the business
  • Deliver timely and accurate monthly budget reporting, variance analysis, and forecasting
  • Support workforce planning by ensuring roles are financially approved before recruitment and tracked accurately
  • Produce regular headcount reports covering permanent staff and contractors
  • Monitor and manage departmental budgets, including travel and third-party spend
  • Review and assess third-party IT contracts to ensure compliance with approved budgets
  • Support the annual planning cycle, contributing to budget setting and long-term financial forecasting (as required)

What You'll Bring:

• • Significant experience in portfolio finance, financial control, or business management within a large, complex organisation (ideally financial services or IT)
  • Strong understanding of budgeting, cost recovery, and financial reporting frameworks
  • Confidence in dealing with senior stakeholders and influencing decision-making through data and insight
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with financial systems and reporting tools
  • High attention to detail, strong organisational skills, and a proactive mindset
