Description
The University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB), Department of Budget & Financial Analysis has an opening for a contractual MS Access Developer (IT Applications Developer). This position will design, program, test, implement, and document modifications to existing systems to enhance processing efficiency or a required change. This person will also investigate and resolve application system problems reported by system users.***This is a Temporary/Full-Time/Non-Benefited Position***
Essential Functions:
- Analyze the needs of internal department and assist staff and leadership with development of Microsoft (MS) Access Databases, including but not limited to, tables, queries, forms, and reports.
- Develop MS Access/Excel VBA programs to perform tasks automatically.
- Analyze complex data to develop automated reporting.
- Create/edit new and/or existing macros to work with a large amount of data.
- Design and implement applications using the Power Platform and SharePoint: PowerApps, Power Automate, PowerBI.
- Review code to ensure best practices are in place and ability to following business unit naming conventions.
- Update, repair, optimize and maintain existing code using SQL.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelors' degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Systems Administration, Computer Engineering or a related field.
Experience: Two (2) years of related database experience, preferably in MS Access and working knowledge of MS SQL.
Other: May consider a combination of directly related experience and education.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong understanding in design of MS Access database tools, relational databases for medium sized applications.
Skilled in creating complex queries, forms and outputs using MS Access. - Knowledgeable in working with large databases and designing security/access.
- Database task automation using VBA and macros.
- Knowledgeable in working with Microsoft Dataverse.
- Good technical knowledge on designing and developing enterprise applications using Microsoft Power Platform.
Hourly Rate Range: $35.77/hr - 37.88/hr.
