- Law Program Manager for Experiential Opportunities

POSITION OBJECTIVE
Case Western Reserve University School of Law has a dynamic and nationally recognized Experiential Education curriculum that has been awarded an A+ rating for Practical Training by PreLaw Magazine. The Program Manager for Experiential Opportunities will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the experiential education program. The manager will develop and manage capstones, externships, and other experiential education requirements and initiatives, both in the United States and abroad, including the 1L Experience, moot court and mock trial programs, and other community engagement efforts. The manager will provide programmatic and logistical oversight for experiential education opportunities and programs, including development of new opportunities, communication with students and employers, program/event coordination, marketing, and education. The manager represents the experiential education program to internal and external constituents; the latter includes law firms, courts, corporations, government agencies, and non-profit organizations the country and abroad. The manager is a key member of the experiential education team led by Associate Dean, Laura McNally.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Manage Externship Capstone Program. Counsel and advise students regarding current and potential externship sites. Educate students regarding academic matters related to experiential education; develop expert knowledge of the law school's graduation requirements, academic concentrations, and experiential learning requirements in order to counsel and advise students of the same. Formulate and lead initiatives to increase student and alumni awareness of and engagement with the law school's ambitious experiential education program. Create and provide experiential education-related programming, including trainings, workshops, and the annual externship bootcamp event. Communicate directly with regional, national, and international organizations to promote and increase experiential learning opportunities and facilitate contact between qualified students and externship sites. Communicate with externship and capstone placement site personnel regarding our experiential education programs. Maintain relationships with current public interest/government employers in target markets across the country, through phone, virtual, and in-person meetings, and develop new relationships with the same. Conduct site visits with local and regional externship placement sites to maintain relations as well as further expand experiential learning opportunities, promoting out-of-classroom experiences and learning activities relating to students¿ experiential learning and career advancement. Facilitate the resolution of concerns and complaints brought forth by employers supervising students and by students regarding their sites. Maintain complete records pertaining to the experiential education program. Ensure compliance with ABA Field Placement standards, and gather data about our experiential education programs for reporting to various accrediting and media organizations. Develop, plan, deliver, and evaluate thank-you events, programs, and initiatives for experiential education partners regionally, nationally, and abroad. Oversee communication and marketing strategies, including on the website and in social media. Manage compliance with experiential education marketing plan. Collect and interpret externship program evaluation data from participating students and employers to distribute to students, employers, faculty, and administration to build program awareness and determine program effectiveness. Collect and interpret experiential learning benchmarking data from peer institutions. Serve as a liaison with the experiential education faculty committee, communicate regularly with the experiential education team, and collaborate with career development staff on externship and capstone initiatives and outcomes. Manage 1L Experience. Contribute to planning and implementation of 1L Client Experience, a hallmark of the School of Law's experiential education program, through direct communication with community organizations, staffing support at brief advice clinics, student communication, organization and marketing of 1L Experience events, and monitoring of student participation in the 1L Experience offerings. (20%)
Implement Externship Curriculum. Create externship and capstone courses on Canvas and ensure student compliance with program requirements, including the externship curriculum. Register students for externships and capstones. Contribute to the development of externship curriculum. (10%)
Formulate and implement guidance to the law school's moot court and mock trial teams regarding program policies and procedures. Engage with appropriate law school, university, and external committees and organizations, including the Experiential Education faculty committee. Engage with the national externship community and attend relevant conferences. (10%)
NONESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

CONTACTS
Department: Regular contact with the Associate Dean for Experiential Education, Law Clinic Managing Attorney, law school staff and faculty.
University: Contact with administrative departments throughout the university as required to perform essential functions.
External: Regular contact with alumni, attorneys, outside organizations, judges, and government officials.
Students: Frequent contact with students regarding experiential education programs and events

QUALIFICATIONS
Experience: 3 or more years of experience (advanced degree can count towards that experience). Experience managing programs in an academic environment is preferred. Experience with community service organizations is preferred, whether as an employee or volunteer.
Education: Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.

Ability to function in a Window-based, Microsoft Office environment, ability to effectively utilize the e-mail system, ability to use Google Drive, internet search skills, extensive knowledge of databases.
Demonstrated history of successful support, education, and advocacy for all students, aligned with the values, mission, and messaging of the university, while adhering to the staff policy on conflict of commitment and interest.
Ability to meet consistent attendance.
Ability to exercise good judgment
