- Landscape Architect / Senior Project Manager
Description
Terra Designworks is seeking a talented landscape architect who will act as Senior Project Manager to a small team specializing in high-end residential projects on steep terrain. The optimal candidate is passionate about the challenges of placing homes on mountainsides and thinking outside the box. The difficulty and challenges that our projects present should ignite in you a positive, can-do approach to solving challenging projects in ways that are dynamic and sensitive to the landscape.
This role requires excellent organizational skills, proactivity and effective communication. The Project Manager will oversee landscape architecture projects from concept to completion – ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within budget and to high-quality standards. Working alongside the owner, the Project Manager will collaborate with clients, design teams and contractors to align each project with client priorities and the firm’s vision. Primary job responsibilities include developing design concepts and construction documents, reviewing construction documents, managing staff, leading a project team and overseeing construction administration. This position offers the opportunity to evolve, grow and develop new areas of expertise.
Requirements
Experience and Skills Required
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in landscape architecture, or a combination of relevant education and professional experience.
- Licensure or a commitment to obtain licensure within 12 months of hire.
- At least 5 years of experience in a related role, with a minimum of 2 years in a supervisory position.
- Experience working on multiple projects simultaneously and the ability to meet fast-paced project timelines and take on diverse projects.
- In-depth knowledge of landscape architecture design principles, construction methods and sustainable practices.
- Demonstrated success in managing client relationships, project timelines and budgets.
- Ability to work in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
- Proficiency in industry-standard software, such as AutoCAD/Civil 3D, Land F/X, Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong graphic communication skills, including sketching, rendering, and proficiency in digital media and software.
- Creative problem-solving and technical design abilities.
- Ability to work independently, delegate tasks and oversee multiple projects at different stages.
- Solid technical knowledge in construction and experience in preparing construction documents with attention to QA/QC.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
- Working knowledge of project budget creation and management.
- Construction administration experience including job site meetings, issuing supplemental instructions, and review of submittals and shop drawings during the construction phase.
- Proficiency in Revit and Lumion and working knowledge of Rocky Mountain plant materials is a plus.

The ideal candidate is passionate, motivated, articulate and a creative problem-solver who thrives in a collaborative setting and possesses a solid understanding of the design process, from conceptual design to construction documentation. The job requires strong verbal and graphic communication skills, including conceptual design, presentation graphics, hand drawing and construction documentation. Essential skills include project management, site design, grading design, construction documentation, and experience with regulatory processes and permitting.
Candidates should have a strong understanding of the business of landscape architecture as well as leadership experience with project teams and clients. Essential job duties include maintaining project profitability and customer satisfaction while defining projects, coordinating tasks and team members, and producing deliverables on time and on budget.
