Idaho Power — located in vibrant Boise, Idaho — is looking for a Land Rights Leader to join our Corporate Real Estate team. It’s an exciting time to work for Idaho Power. While this position is based at Idaho Power’s downtown Boise location, we offer both flexible schedules and the opportunity to work up to 40% remote.
What does a Land Rights Leader do for us?
The Land Rights Leader oversees and guides a team that represents the interests of the company in land rights matters and directs the planning, acquisition, lease, disposal, and administrative management of company real estate or right of way assets in alignment with broader strategic initiatives. This position will set strategic goals, forecast needs, help set budgets, manage contractors, and provide leadership of employees, ensuring the land rights team works efficiently and effectively to support all related company needs. They act as a liaison between internal and external stakeholders, closely coordinating with them to ensure timely and quality execution of work while seeking the best and most-timely outcome for Idaho Power. They share expertise on land rights matters, including rights of way negotiations, easements, leases, and other real estate agreements with the entire Corporate Real Estate team.

A COMPETITIVE CANDIDATE WILL HAVE
Knowledge of:
- Real estate law
- Principles of property negotiation
- Risk management
- Legal descriptions
- Easement types, in both urban and rural areas
- Land title research
- Ownership types, including individual, partnership, corporate, etc.
- Appraisals
- Land Survey applications used in real estate
- Familiarity with tribal law and Native American political framework
Skills in:
- Effective leadership skills, including the ability to encourage and motivate employees, delegate work wisely and effectively, and maintain an enjoyable and challenging work environment
- Public relations and negotiation
- Project management
- Presentations
- Good oral and written communication, including communicating with a diverse audience
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to:
- Apply a wide range of program management techniques
- Drive the implementation of creative and improved right of way and land acquisition solutions
- Make timely and well-rounded decisions, develop action plans, and organize work and staff to resolve complex problems based on a systematic approach, considering both short- and long-term consequences and soliciting input from a variety of sources

- Deal with sensitive and confidential information
- Gather the essential elements needed for project success through diligent research, stakeholder engagement, and inquisitive questioning
- Take complete ownership and initiate action on all land right matters required by the enterprise
Requirements
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in real estate, business, or related field OR Equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience:
7 years of experience in a real estate related industry, including experience with land rights, permitting, land surveys and easements with 5 years in a corporate environment
Licenses & Certifications:
Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record based on driving requirements for the position
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position requires working at a desk/computer for extended periods of time. It requires the use of office equipment, fine motor skills including typing on the computer, dialing phones, filing paper, and working in close proximity to other people. There may be occasional lifts of no more than 10 lbs. The above is a summary of the primary essential functions of the position.
