Job Title: Health Educator and Outreach Manager
Status: Full-time - Reports to: Executive Director
Be the bridge between knowledge and care—help families manage epilepsy through education, outreach, and support.
Position Summary
The Health Educator and Outreach Manager is a key contributor to the agency’s mission, working directly with individuals and families affected by epilepsy while also representing the organization in the community. The position provides one-on-one health education, facilitates client support groups, and delivers public presentations on epilepsy prevention, management, seizure recognition, and seizure first-aid.
This role also ensures that all education and outreach activities meet program requirements and funder expectations. The Health Educator and Outreach Manager brings professional maturity, evidence-based knowledge of chronic disease self-management, and business acumen to ensure services are compassionate, effective, and accountable. Success in this role requires the ability to balance empathy with professionalism, collaborate in a small team environment, and pitch in to support colleagues when needed.

Requirements
Key Responsibilities
- Provide individualized health education to clients and families on epilepsy self-management strategies.
- Facilitate monthly in-person support groups in Tallahassee, Panama City, and other North Florida locations.
- Apply trauma-informed practices to create a supportive and respectful group environment.
- Plan, schedule, and deliver community presentations on epilepsy, seizure recognition, and seizure first aid in schools, workplaces, and other public settings.
- Ensure all educational content reflects current research, best practices, and recognized standards in epilepsy and chronic disease self-management.
- Represent the agency at health fairs, community events, and professional meetings.
- Track and document all outreach and education activities to ensure compliance with program deliverables and funder requirements.
- Collaborate with Care Managers, the Administrative & Data Manager, and the Executive Director to align education and outreach with organizational goals.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Health Education, Public Health, Community Health, or related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
- Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) or Master Certified Health Education Specialist (MCHES) preferred; willingness to pursue certification encouraged.
- Minimum of three years of professional experience in health education, community outreach, or public health programming; experience in neurology, chronic disease, or disability-focused services strongly preferred
- Demonstrated knowledge of evidence-based chronic disease self-management approaches.
- Professional or lived experience with epilepsy, neurological conditions, or trauma preferred.
- Demonstrated business acumen, with strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Skilled in both individualized client education and group facilitation.
- Knowledge of data tracking, reporting, and compliance requirements for funders.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred.
- Valid Florida driver’s license, reliable transportation, and ability to travel throughout the service area.
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends.
- Ability to thrive in a small team environment where collaboration, flexibility, and mutual support are essential.

- Based on-site in Tallahassee with regular travel to Panama City and periodic travel across the service region.

- Ability to transport program materials (up to 25 lbs.) and set up presentation equipment at off-site locations.
