Description
About Indiana Legal Help
The Indiana Legal Help Program (IndianaLegalHelp.org) (ILH Program) was established in 2018 by Indiana's Coalition for Court Access as a program of the Indiana Bar Foundation to connect Hoosiers to free civil legal resources. The ILH Program addresses the needs of low-income, self-represented litigants with over 200 approved self-help forms, in-depth legal guides on twenty topics, and a robust tool to connect users to legal aid by location. Serving communities across the state through its website and a network of 150 courthouse and library-based legal help kiosks, the ILH Program is a lifeline for those facing legal challenges without access to traditional representation. Since its inception, the ILH Program has grown into a trusted resource and is now transitioning to a new nonprofit organization, Indiana Legal Help, Inc. (ILH).
Position Summary
Are you a legal professional deeply committed to justice and driven by a desire to serve the most vulnerable Hoosiers? ILH seeks a servant leader to join us as Executive Director—a role ideal for a mission-driven leader with an understanding of the legal system, a passion for closing the justice gap, and an appreciation for technology that advances objectives.
As Executive Director, you’ll lead both strategic vision and hands-on program delivery, working side by side with a small, high-performing team. Key Responsibilities
- Advance ILH’s mission to ensure all Hoosiers, especially those without an advocate, can access justice and quality legal information.
- Cultivate an inclusive and supportive culture—leading, mentoring, and empowering a small, dedicated staff to achieve meaningful impact.
- Engage and partner with the Board of Directors to create and execute ILH’s strategic plan.
- Build enduring collaborations with Indiana’s legal aid providers, courts, volunteers, and community organizations, always centering the voices and needs of the underserved.
- Develop and execute funding strategies, including donor cultivation and grants, to sustain and grow ILH’s reach and effectiveness.
- Serve as the public face and passionate advocate for ILH, elevating our mission in the legal community, among funders, and across the state.
- Oversee day-to-day operations and inspire continuous innovation in program delivery and accessibility.
