Job Title: Director of Programs & Operations
Reports To: Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
Location: Greater New Haven, CT
Employment Type: Full-Time, Exempt
Position Summary
The Director of Programs & Operations serves as a vital member of the leadership team at the Boys & Girls
Clubs of Greater New Haven (BGCGNH). This role is responsible for developing and adapting youth development
programs, based on the Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s curriculum, while integrating findings from local
community needs assessments to ensure relevance and effectiveness. The director also leads the day-to-day
operations of the organization.
The Director ensures the safety, functionality, and operational excellence of all Club facilities. The director
supervises three Community Directors, a Membership Director, and an Athletics Director. Oversight of a Teen
Director may also be included, contingent upon organizational budgeting and funding availability. Together, this
team delivers impactful youth development programs that promote academic achievement, healthy lifestyles,
and strong character and citizenship for members, ages 5-18.

Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Operations & Program Leadership
- Oversee the implementation of high-quality youth development programs that are aligned with the organization’s mission and vision.
- Collaborate with the CEO and leadership to develop and execute annual program and operations goals.
- Use data and performance metrics to inform decision-making and continuous program improvement.
- Lead cross-site coordination and consistency in service delivery, program offerings, and member experience.
Staff Leadership & Supervision
- Directly supervise and support three Community Directors, the Membership Director, and the Athletics Director.
- Provide coaching, mentorship, and professional development opportunities for direct reports
Facilities & Safety Oversight
- Oversee the maintenance, safety, and security of all Club facilities and equipment in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Lead emergency preparedness and crisis management planning.
- Ensure implementation of best practices in youth safety, including adherence to BGCA safety standards and protocols.
Operational Management
- Manage club operating systems, schedules, supplies, and workflows to ensure smooth daily operations across all sites.
- Coordinate with finance and administrative staff to ensure budget adherence, purchasing protocols, and contract compliance.
- Monitor and evaluate operational performance and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency and impact.
Community & Stakeholder Engagement
- Cultivate relationships with schools, community partners, and public agencies to enhance programming and extend the Club’s reach.
- Represent the Club in community meetings, safety forums, and collaborative networks.
- Work with Development and Communications teams to share success stories and program outcomes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s Degree in Education, Public Administration, Nonprofit Management, or related field preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of progressive leadership experience in youth services, education, nonprofit operations, or a related field.
- Strong background in program strategy, operations management, and facilities oversight.
- Experience supervising and developing cross-functional teams.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to youth development, equity, and community empowerment.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel between Club locations as needed.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary Range: $80,000 – $95,000 annually (commensurate with experience)
