Stein Sperling is seeking a Director of Business Development & Marketing to assume leadership over Firm-wide business development, marketing, and communications responsibilities.
This position will work with firm leadership to develop and implement results-driven strategies to raise the visibility of the firm, its practices, and its lawyers, as well as manage and enhance the public profile of the firm and ensure that all relevant initiatives connect and align with the firm’s overall business development efforts.
Responsibilities:
- Strengthens relationships with key firm clients as well as creating targeted initiatives to attract new clients.
- Develop and execute strategic priorities with a focus on growing market share specific to geography, practice groups, industry groups and individual partners, and provide analytical and strategic leadership.
- Identify and maximize ROI on targeted client and industry events, sponsorships, webinars, speaking engagements and thought leadership opportunities.
- Ensure a structured approach for maintaining up-to-date business and client information, knowledge experience including information for pitches that aligns with the firm’s existing processes.
- Monitor marketplace and competitive developments that impact existing and prospective clients, and quickly make recommendations.
- Find ways to mine data and improve experience collection.
- Direct marketing and business development database updates, including practice and matter descriptions, website, biographies, mailing lists and CRM.
- Additional responsibilities as assigned.
- Highly responsible and visible management position with regular interaction with the Firm’s leadership and practice group management
- Utilizes traditional earned media, social media, content creation, and strategic recognition to elevate the firm’s profile and brand.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in Marketing or related Business Development degree.
- Minimum of ten years total experience in a professional services environment in the management of marketing or business and at least 5 years of law firm experience.
- People management experience.
Skills
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to synthesize information and facts to provide firm-relevant solutions to difficult and complex situations and issues.
- The ability to think critically, analyze data effectively and convey complex information clearly.
- Focused on execution and achieving measurable results through superior project management.
- Excellent communication skills, including writing, editing and presentation capabilities.
- Demonstrated ability to support attorneys with a wide range of business development goals and marketing skills.
- Ability to work in an environment with shifting priorities and meet time-sensitive deadlines
- Excellent inter-personal skills.
Tech
- A solid command of software applications to produce high-end, professional work product, including PowerPoint and Excel.
- Experience with ContactEase or an equivalent Contact Relationship Management (CRM) system.
- WordPress or equivalent.
- Adobe design suite experience.
