Director of Business Development

Summary/Objective
Responsible for driving growth and expanding the company's market presence within the construction industry. This role involves identifying new business opportunities, building, and maintaining relationships with clients, and developing strategic partnerships.

- Conduct market research to identify potential clients and business opportunities in commercial, federal, municipal, and private construction markets.
- Identify and approach potential clients to establish new business relationships to drive repeat business and secure new contracts
- Utilize data analytics and digital marketing strategies to identify leads, enhance SYNCON’s brand visibility, and track business development performance
- Conduct due diligence on potential clients and projects to assess risks and ensure alignment with company capabilities and goals.
- Build a strong network of industry contacts and leverage these relationships to generate new business opportunities.
- Develop and implement strategic business development plans to achieve annual revenue growth targets and secure new contracts.
- Build and maintain relationships with existing and potential clients to drive repeat business and expand market share.
- Provide feedback and insights to senior management on market conditions and business opportunities.
- Promote sustainable construction practices and innovative technologies (e.g., LEED, BIM) in proposals to align with client expectations.
- Coordinate and conduct client meetings, presentations, and negotiations.
- Collaborate with project management, estimating, and marketing teams to develop competitive proposals, budgets, and timelines to ensure alignment between business development and project execution.
- Prepare and present business proposals and bids to potential clients.
- Monitor project progress in conjunction with project manager and ensure client satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.
- Represent SYNCON at industry events, conferences, and trade shows to build a strong network of contacts.
- Develop and manage strategies for securing federal and municipal contracts, including navigating government procurement processes and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and city regulations.
- Develop and manage business development budgets, including forecasting revenue and tracking ROI on marketing and networking activities.
- Stay updated on industry trends and developments to maintain a competitive edge.
- Prepare regular reports on business development activities, performance, and results to include but not limited to ROI on marketing activities.
- Maintain accurate records of client interactions, proposals, and contracts.
- Develop and manage an annual PR calendar in coordination with a PR/social media agency.
- Collaborate with PR social media agency to create PR content, social media posts, press releases, and brand materials to ensure consistency and alignment with strategic goals.
- Manage and forecast a network marketing calendar to align outreach activities with business development priorities.
- Oversee the tracking and reporting of ROI on marketing, PR, and networking activities.
- Ensure all brand communication support both commercial/private-sector expansion and federal/municipal positioning.

Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in business development, sales, or a related role within the construction industry.
- Strong understanding of construction means and methods, project management, and industry-specific regulations.
- Proven track record of achieving sales targets and driving business growth.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in data analytics tools and digital marketing platforms to drive lead generation and market analysis
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM software.
- Knowledge of sustainable construction practices (e.g., LEED, net-zero) and emerging technologies (e.g., BIM, modular construction)
- Demonstrated experience in securing federal and municipal contracts, including familiarity with FAR, DBE/MBE/WBE requirements, and government procurement platforms (e.g., SAM.gov).
