Position Overview:
The Director, Corporate Health & Safety is responsible for developing and deploying the corporate safety management system (“SMS”) and internal audit of the program across AMG’s global operations. This role ensures compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards, while fostering a proactive safety culture that prioritizes the wellbeing of employees, contractors, and surrounding communities.
The Director, Corporate Health & Safety is responsible for ensuring the safety, health and environmental protection goals of the company are met, to prevent accidents and to eliminate or control exposures that could result in harm to our employees,
This position will be a part of the corporate Environmental, Health, Safety, and Sustainability group.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
- Improving, monitoring and enforcing company-wide health and safety standards to prevent accidents, eliminate or control exposures and comply with internal policies and procedures and regulations of local, state, and federal agencies in the countries where we operate.
- Driving the standardization of safety practices at all operating facilities through the implementation of the corporate SMS.
- Auditing operating facilities to identify existing or potential safety, health and environmental hazards.
- Recommending corrective actions or preventative measures and ensuring implementation of these measures.
- Preparing audit reports summarizing observations and opportunities for improvement.
- Develop reports for leadership on SMS outcomes.
- Leading or participating in serious incident investigations and root cause analyses, ensuring lessons learned are disseminated across the organization.
- Monitor legislative changes in all operating regions and advising on compliance strategies.
- Advising leadership on emerging risks, compliance obligations, and safety performance trends.
- Promoting our safety culture and leading programs to improve the company's overall safety culture.
- Build strong relationships with senior leadership and business unit personnel to promote a strong culture of compliance and ownership.
Other EHSS related duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive health & safety leadership experience in the metals, mining, chemical, or industrial sectors.
- In-depth knowledge of safety regulations and industrial process safety.
- Proven track record of leading multi-site, multi-jurisdiction safety programs.
- Professional certifications (e.g., CSP, CIH, CHMM, or equivalent) strongly preferred.

Work Environment:
- Based at corporate headquarters in Wayne, PA.
- Up to 50% travel to operating facilities and mine sites.
- Industrial environments, including molten metal operations, underground and open-pit mining, equipment assembly and heavy equipment operations.
