Description
The Alexander Campbell King Law Library at the University of Georgia School of Law is excited to announce a new opportunity for a Digital Initiatives and Technology Librarian. This newly created position will play a pivotal role in managing and developing the School of Law’s institutional repository and archives. Additionally, this individual will collaborate with the Law & Technology Librarian to enhance and integrate technology into the Law Library’s instruction and services. The position reports directly to the Associate Director for Collection Services.
Duties and Responsibilities of the Digital Initiatives and Technology Librarian:
Digital Initiatives and Archives Management
- Responsible for the management and development of the law school institutional repository and archives, including the access, digitization, and preservation of historical print, born-digital objects, artifacts, photographs, and audio/video materials
- Lead and provide project management on Law Library grant opportunities
Research, Reference and Informal Instructional Services
- Provide synchronous and asynchronous informal legal research instruction and materials to the School of Law community
Participate in research and reference services
Law & Technology Services
- In coordination with the Law & Technology Librarian, integrate technology into the Law Library’s offerings to the law school community
Formal Instruction
- Responsible for planning and teaching first year, advanced and specialized legal research and technology courses
Law Library Operations
- Contribute to teams and committees by planning, evaluating, assessing, marketing and implementing services, resources, and technologies
- Participate in professional, scholarly and service activities

SALARY: $77,000-$82,000, Commensurate with Experience

Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree
- Master’s in Information and Library Science (M.L.S.)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Prior role as an Academic Law Librarian
- Familiarity with institutional repositories;
- Advanced legal research skills including ability to conduct in-depth research, synthesize research results, and deliver a high quality, comprehensive final product;
- Understanding of legal technology and generative AI platforms;
- Proven ability in project management and development and evaluation of services and programs;
- Demonstrated ability to work with educational technologies and knowledge of legal research instruction design; and
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills. An established record of service and teamwork.
