We are seeking a skilled and passionate Communications Project Manager to play a critical role in shaping and executing our internal and external communications strategy.

Position Details
As the Communications Project Manager for the Global Privacy Office, you will be responsible for leading all internal and external communications initiatives. This role demands a strategic thinker with excellent communication, project management, and design skills. You will develop and execute communication plans, create compelling presentations and reports for senior management, and ensure that our privacy message is clear, consistent, and engaging across all channels. This also includes the planning and execution of internal and external events to promote privacy awareness and engagement.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and Execute Communication Strategies: Lead the development and implementation of comprehensive internal and external communication plans to promote privacy awareness, compliance, and best practices.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Identify, engage, and manage relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to understand their communication needs and ensure alignment with the Global Privacy Office's objectives.
- Content Creation & Management: Create high-quality communication materials, including presentations, reports, newsletters, website content, and training materials, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and consistency in messaging.
- Senior Management Reporting: Prepare and deliver clear, concise, and visually appealing reports and presentations for senior management, highlighting key privacy initiatives, progress, and challenges.
- Project Management: Manage multiple communication projects simultaneously, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards. This includes defining project scope, objectives, milestones, and resource allocation.
- Risk Management: Identify potential communication risks, develop mitigation strategies, and escalate issues to appropriate stakeholders in a timely manner.
- Brand Management: Ensure that all communications align with Rakuten's brand guidelines and promote a positive image of the Global Privacy Office.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with various teams across the organization, including legal, compliance, IT, and marketing, to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
- Event Management: Plan, coordinate, and execute internal and external events (e.g., workshops, webinars, conferences) to promote privacy awareness, training, and engagement. This includes venue selection, logistics, speaker coordination, and post-event evaluation.
Mandatory Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a communications role, preferably within a large, global organization.
- Proven experience in developing and executing internal and external communication strategies.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messages to different audiences.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced skills in PowerPoint for creating impactful presentations.
- Solid understanding of basic design principles and experience using design software tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite).
- Experience in planning and executing internal and external events.
- Experience working with cross-functional and diverse teams.
- Self-motivated, able to understand team dynamics and navigate challenges to drive projects forward.
- Business-level proficiency in both English and Japanese.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience in communicating about privacy, data protection, or legal topics.
- Experience with content management systems (CMS) and email marketing platforms.
- Familiarity with privacy laws and regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (e.g., InDesign, Photoshop).
- Experience with project management tools such as JIRA.
