Description
Job DescriptionWe are looking for a technically proficient Project Manager with a background in Civil or Architectural Engineering to lead the planning, coordination, and on-site execution of production-based projects. These include exhibitions, trade shows booths, pop-up events, commercial interior fit-outs, and both temporary and permanent structural builds. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of construction processes, strong AutoCAD skills, and the ability to effectively bridge the gap between creative design and practical implementation on site.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Planning & Execution
- Lead the end-to-end planning and execution of projects, including exhibitions, commercial interiors, pop-ups, and structural installations.
- Translate creative concepts and design briefs from the Art/Creative Department into actionable technical strategies.
- Develop comprehensive project schedules, including timelines for design development, procurement, construction, and installation phases.
- Manage day-to-day site operations, ensuring tasks are completed on time, within scope, and aligned with quality standards.
Technical Drawings & Documentation
- Prepare, review, and validate technical drawings and AutoCAD plans to ensure accuracy and feasibility.
- Maintain detailed documentation for all technical specifications, revisions, and project updates.
- Ensure all designs comply with structural standards, local regulations, and safety codes.
Site Supervision & Coordination
- Oversee on-site execution, including installation, fabrication, construction, and finishing work.
- Conduct regular site inspections to ensure design intent is being met and quality is maintained.
- Coordinate site logistics, including utilities, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire safety systems integration.
Vendor & Contractor Management
- Liaise with contractors, vendors, and consultants to ensure clear understanding of project scope and technical expectations.
- Supervise and evaluate the work of on-site teams, addressing challenges and ensuring adherence to project plans.
- Negotiate with vendors when needed and ensure material and labor resources are efficiently allocated.
Material & Technical Oversight
- Recommend and approve construction materials, finishes, and detailing suitable for both temporary and permanent installations.
- Monitor implementation of technical systems, including fire safety, air conditioning, electrical, and load-bearing structures.
- Ensure structural integrity and compliance with safety and durability requirements.
Budget & Resource Management
- Support cost estimation and budgeting for technical and construction components of the project.
- Track material usage and labor allocation to minimize waste and ensure cost efficiency.
- Assist in value engineering efforts to optimize design and execution within budget constraints.
Risk Management & Compliance
- Identify potential project risks or delays and propose corrective actions proactively.
- Ensure all safety protocols, local laws, and building codes are strictly followed during site activities.
- Coordinate site readiness for inspections and secure required approvals or certifications.
Team Collaboration & Reporting
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including creative, procurement, logistics, and client service departments.
- Provide regular updates to senior management on project progress, challenges, and milestones.
- Document lessons learned and contribute to process improvements for future projects.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field (required); a Master's or PMP certification is a plus.
- 3-5 years of proven experience in construction project management or site engineering, ideally within events, exhibitions, experiential marketing, or commercial interior fit-outs.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD (required); working knowledge of 3D visualization tools such as SketchUp, Revit, Rhino, or similar software is an advantage.
- Strong understanding of construction materials, structural systems, finishes, safety protocols, and HVAC/fire safety basics relevant to temporary and permanent builds.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret creative concepts and translate them into executable technical plans that align with brand and client expectations.
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams, including creative, production, procurement, and client servicing departments.
- Familiarity with production workflows in advertising, exhibitions, pop-up retail, or brand activation environments.
- Strong vendor and contractor management skills, with the ability to negotiate, supervise, and drive accountability on-site.
- Exceptional organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple fast-paced projects simultaneously.
- Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities, especially under tight deadlines and shifting project scopes.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical details clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Proactive and hands-on approach; willingness to work on-site regularly, including non-standard hours during builds, installations, and event launches.
- Understanding of branding and marketing environments, including how physical builds support larger campaign objectives, is a strong plus.
