The Marketplace Business is responsible for operating Rakuten Ichiba, Rakuten's founding business.
Established in 1997, Rakuten Ichiba has continued to grow to this day, embodying Rakuten's mission to "empower people and society through innovation." It has created a system that allows those skilled in commerce to easily open shops, transcending the limitations of trading areas, and delivering the joy of shopping to users throughout Japan.
Currently, it has grown into one of the largest e-commerce sites in Japan, with over 57,000 stores (as of June 2023) and over 100 million user accounts, serving a large user base.

Department Overview
The mission is to provide effective and user-friendly advertising products as marketing tools that lead to increased sales on Rakuten Ichiba.
The role primarily involves planning and developing various advertising products, including display ads and search ads using Rakuten Ichiba's web pages and apps as media, as well as ads that fully utilize Rakuten's assets such as coupons and points.
You will also be responsible for planning and developing management tools for advertisers. Furthermore, it is possible to provide added value by combining external media advertising outside of Rakuten Ichiba and various SNS platforms with Rakuten data, and to provide new functions utilizing AI.
The strength of Rakuten Ichiba advertising lies in its ability to measure everything from ad impressions and clicks to conversions using Rakuten's unique distribution platform and measurement system. Furthermore, it is possible to optimize ad delivery using this data.
This allows advertising to become an investment that is expected to drive growth, rather than just a cost, and to elevate it to the point where sales plans can be created based on advertising effectiveness.
By utilizing not only ad technology but also the vast amount of data unique to Rakuten, it is possible to create advertising products that are unlike any other.
Main Products in Charge:
Generally, managed advertising such as search ads, display ads, and coupon ads distributed on Rakuten Ichiba's internal and external ad spaces, CRM services such as email newsletters and SNS, and advertising analytics tools.
*You will be responsible for one or more of these.

Position Details
- Promote product development that leads to customer sales/profits and customer satisfaction
- Formulate strategies and define requirements for advertising products that contribute to customer sales by combining actual customer challenges, the needs of the sales team (appropriate demand gathering), and product-out thinking
- Manage projects in cooperation with a wide range of stakeholders, including engineering, creative, and governance organizations
- Launch new products

Each section: Approximately 20 members
There are female managers, and it is an environment where people can play an active role regardless of gender or age
Mandatory Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in sales or planning in the digital advertising industry, or equivalent skills
- Ability to proactively address challenges
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to flexibly respond to changes in company direction and changes in the external environment
- Logical thinking skills
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience in directing and managing development projects
- Advertising operation experience
- Ability to communicate in English
- Experience managing Profit and Loss (P&L)
